We Be Brethren
Nov. 8, 2009

 

As part of its Community Outreach efforts, the Pamlico Musical Society sponsored a free gospel concert at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Mesic featuring the a cappella choral group, We Be Brethren, of Charleston, SC. The congregants, community, and Musical Society members all enjoyed the spirited message of faith and hope enhanced by the beautiful harmonies and boundless energy of the group. Deacon  Booker T. Jones of the church hosted the event.

The band, Red Molly , in their encore — and a cappella — performance at Oriental’s Old Theater, October 17, 2009.
The standing ovation for Red Molly capped a weekend of folk music that also included Jeffrey Foucault and Donna Hughes.

  The ConTrAsTs

The ConTrAsTs were brought to us from Europe. This international chamber music group is based in Antwerp, Belgium. This ensemble is made up of teachers from Belgian Conservatories, all of whom play at the virtuoso level.

Piedmont Blues Showcase

The Piedmont Blues Showcase brought us an exciting change. They appeared through the Music Maker Foundation, which is dedicated to keeping the roots of American Music alive. From the Piedmont and the Coastal Plain, their regional musical accents are the heart of the blues.

Common Ground
