About the Society The mission of the Pamlico Musical Society is to bring high-quality, musical entertainment, education, and enrichment to residents and visitors of Pamlico County. The Musical Society presents concerts in a variety of musical genres throughout the year. Free workshops, performances, and other outreach events are held at venues throughout the county to serve people of all ages who are otherwise unable to attend the concerts. It is the Society’s hope that these efforts will enrich the lives of individuals, and contribute to the economic vitality of Pamlico County. | ||

Concert Program The Society presents nine or ten concerts each year from September through May. Professional musicians perform a variety of musical genres including classical, jazz, folk, cabaret and Americana roots. Concerts are usually held at The Old Theater, 809 Broad Street, Oriental, NC.
Educational Program Free educational programs bring professional musicians to the county for discussion and demonstration of such diverse topics as the history of sacred music and the development of American jazz. After each concert the society hosts a meet-the-artists reception for members. |
Youth Program The youth music program provides in-school concerts and free concert tickets for young musicians, organizes master classes for middle and high school students with visiting artists and sponsors scholarships to summer music camp for Pamlico County youth musicians.
Free Community Concerts Free community concerts began in 1999 and are usually held at the Pamlico County High School Auditorium. Past concerts have included the Air Force Heritage of America Band, the Air Force Jazz Band, the East Carolina University Symphony Orchestra, the Lovell Sisters, and others. |
